Description
HDPE geomembrane smooth is very low permeability synthetic membrane liner or barrier with smooth surface. It can be used solely or with any geotechnical engineering related material so as to control fluid (or gas) migration in a human-made project, structure, or system. The manufacturing of HDPE geomembrane smooth begins with the production of the raw materials, which mainly include the HDPE polymer resin, and various additives such as carbon black, antioxidants, anti-aging agent, UV absorber, and other adjuvant.

Applications
1. Landfill Liners and Caps
HDPE geomembranes constitute a critical barrier against the migration of leachate into groundwaters. Bottom liners are generally 1.5 to 2.0 mm thick, but somewhat thinner liners can be used for capping.LLDPE gemembranes can be selected in landfill capping to provide greater flexibility than in areas with sloped surfaces that may settle.
2. Mining containment – Heap Leach Pads, Tailing Ponds
The HDPE’s resistance to chemicals enables its application in gold, copper, and other mineral heap leach pads with acidic or caustic leachates.Expected subgrade movement requires using LLDPE, which has a better elongation to failure.
3. Wastewater Ponds and Aerated Lagoons
HDPE or PVC geomembranes can be used to contain contaminated industrial wastewater or municipal wastewater.
The thickness is subject to the site conditions, but it should be within a range of 1.0-1.5mm for robust performance.
4. Aquaculture and Agriculture
Liners of 0.5 – 1.0 mm HDPE/LLDPE are ordinary in fish/ shrimp ponds. HDPE/LLDPE liners can contain cost-effectively and help maintain water quality.
LDPE or LLDPE may be preferred when irregular pond shapes require more flexibility.
5. Reservoirs, Canals, and Water-retaining Schemes
Geomembrane liners for reservoirs ensure water is stored efficiently by minimizing seepage losses. HDPE or LLDPE liners in the thickness of 1.0 – 2.0 mm are mostly applied in these applications.
Thinner liners (0.5 – 1.0 mm range) may suffice for irrigation canals, though thicker ones provide longer life spans.
6. Secondary Containment of Petroleum and Chemicals
HDPE liners are suitable for resisting chemical spills or leakage at tank farms or chemical processing plants.
Lining in PVC or other special polymer-resistant lining for applications requiring exceptional chemical compatibility.
