TPO Roofing Membrane – High-Reflectance, Heat-Welded Single-Ply Roofing Sheet

Description

What Is TPO Roofing Membrane?

TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) roofing membrane is a single-ply roofing sheet widely used on low-slope and flat commercial, industrial, and institutional roofs. It combines a flexible thermoplastic polyolefin base with a polyester reinforcing scrim, delivering a lightweight, weldable, and highly reflective waterproofing layer.

White TPO reflects a large share of solar heat, helping lower roof surface temperature and reduce building cooling load — which is why it is a common choice for “cool roof” projects.

TPO Roofing Material

Benefit What it means for your project
High solar reflectance White surface reflects sunlight, lowers roof temperature and reduces cooling energy costs
Heat-welded seams Hot-air welded seams form a strong, monolithic bond — no adhesives, no solvent, no open flame
UV & ozone resistance Stands up to long-term sun exposure and weathering
Chemical & puncture resistance Suitable for industrial environments; reinforced scrim adds dimensional stability
Cold-temperature flexibility Stays pliable in low temperatures, easier to handle during winter installation
Lightweight Reduces structural load compared to heavier built-up systems
Recyclable / low VOC Environmentally friendly option; no volatile solvents during installation
Low maintenance Fewer seams and clean, reflective surface simplify long-term care
Applications

TPO Roofing Membrane Applications

Commercial flat & low-slope roofs — offices, retail, hotels
Industrial buildings — factories, warehouses, logistics centers
Institutional — schools, hospitals, government buildings
Residential low — slope and garage roofs
Roof renovation / re-roofing over existing systems

Installation Method

1. Prepare substrate — clean, dry, and repair the base layer.
2. Position membrane — unroll and lay the TPO sheet with proper overlap.
3. Weld seams — join overlapping edges with a hot-air welder to create a continuous waterproof bond.
4. Fasten & detail — mechanically fasten or fully adhere the membrane; flash edges, corners, and penetrations.
5. Inspect — test seams and complete final quality check.
