Description

Geomembranes, also known as waterproof geomembranes, is a type of impermeable membrane, usually made of primary resins such as high density polyethylene (HDPE). They have excellent impermeability and chemical resistance, can effectively prevent water and other liquids from penetrating into the soil, and protect groundwater and surface water resources. For this reason, they are commonly used in projects such as landfills, chemical plants, mines and reservoirs as seepage barriers.

Chemical Resistance
HDPE is highly resistant to acids, alkalis, and most industrial chemicals, reducing degradation risks in harsh environments.
UV and Oxidation Stability
Carbon black additives (typically 2–3% content) provide UV resistance, while antioxidants mitigate oxidative degradation over time.
Mechanical Strength
High tensile strength, puncture resistance, and flexibility ensure structural integrity under stress (e.g., settling substrates or heavy loads).

 




As a waterproofing liner, HDPE membrane is favored over other materials for its modest economic and operational advantage. Economically, HDPE membrane is superior thanks to its relatively straight forward manufacturing process, which has driven up supply and kept prices low in contrast to other kinds of geomembranes. Furthermore, hdpe geomembrane is a very stable polyolefin that is chemically inert and able to maintain long-term integrity and durability.
